Coming after the heat-driven chaos of 2022, the 2023 vintage unfolded at an unhurried pace. With no major heat spikes and a surprisingly cool September, early varieties like Syrah took their time, while later ripeners like Grenache and Mourvèdre hit their stride in October. The extended hang time allowed for beautiful tannin development and flavor precision. The wines are rich in texture and density yet lift from the glass with freshness and poise. Less flashy at first glance, these wines have regal depth and balance that promise to age magnificently.
In contrast, 2024 was a return to Paso Robles normalcy. Warm, but not extreme, it followed a familiar arc—with a September heat wave kickstarting harvest and a mellow October Indian summer closing it out. Reds are already showing depth and vibrant fruit, evoking memories of the standout 2018 vintage. Whites are bright and balanced, with a lovely interplay of body and acidity. We introduced Clairette Blanche this year—a varietal that immediately charmed us with its clarity and aromatic lift. The vintage overall is marked by polish, precision, and classic Paso energy.
